TOOLAND JOHANN ROLAND BRENDA MARTIN PHILIP PUCK NICKO & YOU

I have a piece of writing in this print publication by Karina Beumer, a Belgian artist based in Antwerp.

My story is called Your Form in my Future and is a reflection on viewing art as a quest for a encounter on the level of the chemistry one has with a potential lover.

The work of Karina Beumer is playful and subversive and also involves performances and videos. She often 'interviews' artworks.

Info on this publication (published by Tique) and some links to her work can be found here

We also had a previous collaboration documented here, in the Oonagh Young Gallery in April 2015.

Also further work of Karina Beumer can be found on her website

I perform musically (singing) with a cast of talented others in Red Moon Rising by Vivienne Dick, which will be premiering at Experimenta 2015 in the London Film Festival, where it is also up for the Short Film award. The film will be shown at 3pm Saturday 17th at Cineworld Haymarket and at 8.30pm NFT3.

'Sumptuous nature is artificially created from the female imagination as if the Garden of Eden was made for the pleasure of women only. The female inhabitants perform to a soundtrack that is radically classical or vice-versa.'

Fictional documentary about a fictional island

In 2009 Gavin Prior, Michael Tanner, Brian Conniffe and myself made a fictional spoken word piece about an imaginary island off the coast of Ireland.

I used a lot of stories I'd heard about islands around Ireland as well as stories from my childhood to come up with the background of the island. This was then built upon by Gavin Prior and myself, with a contributing appearance from Brian Conniffe. The 'documentary' was edited and produced by Michael Tanner. Soundcloud link here.

'The Last of our Kind' published on Visual Verse

A piece of writing that I submitted to Visual Verse's online artist/writers' project has been accepted and published. The piece is in response to recent news of walrus beachings and continued loss of wildlife on the planet.

Visual Verse provide an image by an artist as a prompt for writers.

“And yet not completely: the soft top of the head can still twitch with incoming images, like walrus stampedes on melting ice-floes. It’s better to be the last of your kind, when you rule the world, because your kind is burning it up, even here under the clear blue skies.”

You can read the rest over on Visual Verse,  along with other responses here.
